What is a Pause meditation?
Pause meditations are gentle guided sessions to help you slow down during the day, reconnect with self-kindness, and reflect on ideas and themes that matter to you. They’re quiet moments where you can step back from the busyness of life, breathe more freely, and come home to yourself.
Why pausing helps
During the day, our minds can become busy, tired, overwhelmed, or simply caught up in doing. A Pause meditation gives you space to soften, reflect, and realign with what truly matters, so you can meet yourself and your life with greater warmth and clarity.
Simple, friendly, and easy to begin
You don’t need any previous meditation experience. Each Pause session gently guides you, at a calm pace, to slow down, connect with your breath, and open to kindness toward yourself.
There’s no right or wrong way to listen. Just make yourself comfortable, perhaps sitting in a chair or lying down, gently allow your eyes to close, and let the words float through your mind.
A foundation of self-kindness
A central thread running through the Pause meditations is self-kindness.
Rather than pushing, criticising, or striving to “fix” anything, Pause invites you to relate to your thoughts and feelings with care, warmth, and understanding; the same way you might support a close friend.
When Pause may be helpful
You might choose a Pause meditation…
- when you want to reconnect with what matters to you
- after lunch when your body’s circadian rhythm naturally dips, as a way to rest and refresh your mind, so you have more energy and clarity to cope with the rest of the day
- when the day feels busy or overwhelming
- when you’d like a gentle moment of reflection
- when you need to reset your thoughts and emotions
- at the end of a busy workday, as a way to unwind, let go, and allow your mind to process your experiences
- or simply to enjoy a quiet moment to pause in your day
Most Pause meditations are short, so they can easily fit into everyday life.
